South Africa attraction - The Sabi Sand Game Reserve shares a 50km (31.25 mile) unfenced border with the Kruger National Park and therefore is home to the Big 5 and much more - some of the best South African Safaris.
The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is the oldest private game reserve in South Africa.
Two rivers supply the game reserve with a valuable water source. The Sand River flows through the reserve for 50km (31 miles) from north west to south east whilst the Sabie River flows on the southern boundary. The sustenance of these rivers ensures that this area enjoys one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations of any area in Africa. Over two hundred different species live in abundance, whilst the ever changing bird life provides even the most experienced ornithologist with rare finds.
Wildlife viewing is second to none, making this one of the best South African Safaris. The Sabi Sand Reserve enjoys good quality viewing of leopard (the most elusive of predators), as well as elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope and other species.
The Sabi Sand Reserve boasts a selection of superb safari lodges which are masters in the field of hospitality. Each safari lodge has something unique to offer. Why not combine a few over a week or 2 week-long stay?
Some of the most well know safari lodges found in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve are:
Djuma, Elephant Plains, Exeter, Inyati, Kirkman's Kamp, Leopard Hills, Lion Sands, Nottens, Sabi Sabi and Ulusaba.
