Travel with Africa A-Z for you unforgettable African beach holiday to South Africa, Zanzibar, Mozambique, Kenya, and other fabulous African Beach destinations.
South Africa has a coastline of 2236 miles. The beaches differ provincially. From small coastal towns to totally unspoiled stretches of beach.
Cape Town’s beaches are probably the most well known with their white sand and freezing water on the one side (Atlantic) and the warmer beaches on the other Indian Oceanside. There are many quaint (and also, large) seaside towns that are fantastic to explore. Cape Town's beaches include Camps Bay, Clifton, Hout Bay, Boulders Beach (where you share the beach with the penguins) to name a few.
Cape Town's beaches are best from late November to the end of March as are the Garden Route beaches. These include Plettenberg Bay, Wilderness Beach, Knysna, Natures Valley, Jeffery's Bay, Cape St. Francis, and all the way down to Port Elizabeth.
KwaZulu-Natal’s beaches are warm throughout the year where from here you need only drive an hour or two and you could be in the heart of a game reserve.
Durban is the main city in Kwa-Zulu Natal and it is renowned for its Golden Mile - a 6km stretch of popular beaches. Dairy, Wedge, North Beach, Bay of Plenty, and Snake Park Beach are great surfing beaches and offer a range of water-sport activities. Addington & South Beach are family beaches with lots of entertainment on offer.
North of Durban is the ever-popular beaches of Umhlanga, Umhloti, Ballito, Zinkwazi, and Umhlali to name a few.
South of Durban has many family beaches and is of course famous for Aliwal Shoal (diving). Some of the swimming beaches are Bazley Beach, Margate, Banana Beach, and Southport (Anerley) Beach. The south coast is full of beautiful small coastal towns and little discovered beaches.
A number of beaches in South Africa have been awarded the Blue Flag status, an international award for the high standard of safety and water quality.
Between May and October, Mozambique beach holidays provide a great alternative to South Africa's winter, with its remote islands with palm-fringed beaches.
Zanzibar is great for beach holidays between July and February when the weather is generally excellent. Gorgeous long stretches of fine white sand and palm trees await you.
Mauritius is very popular with South Africans as it provides a great all year round climate and beautiful white sandy beaches.
Beach weddings are hugely popular and there are lots to choose from depending on which country you would like for this wonderful occasion.

Africa is rich in history and culture. Wherever you choose to go, you will find different tribes, languages, histories, and battles that will interest all ages. The culture of the African people is fascinating from the Zulu to the Maasai.
Many visitors to South Africa are interested in seeing the culture of our people and a visit to a cultural village such as Lesedi Cultural Village is often the highlight of their trip. Museums are very interesting and help people to understand how we have embraced our new democracy and become the rainbow nation. Let us know your interests and we can customize a full tour of Southern/Eastern Africa incorporating these as seamlessly as possible (especially if trying to please the rest of your family/group that don't share the same passion).

Shark Cage Diving in South Africa is a truly breathtaking adventure - up close and personal with the Great White Shark!!
The best time for Shark Cage Diving is between May and September although shark counts can still be good out of this time. Charter boats take you out to sea to witness these incredible sharks in their natural habitat. You can view the sharks from the surface/boat but the best way to view them is in a submerged steel cage while the curious creatures stare at you with their deep black eyes and nudge the cage!!
The Great White Shark is the world's largest predatory fish and can reach over 6m in length. South Africa has one of the highest counts of Great White Sharks in the world.
